OVERVIEW OF WORLD LANGUAGE INTRO
Bonjour, Salve, Hola Everyone! In this class 6th grade students learn the basics of French, Latin, and Spanish in one semester. Each language is studied for about six weeks: French, then Latin, then Spanish. Students learn verb conjugations, pronouns, basic sentence structure, and culture topics (a culture project is written for each language). The class moves quickly. There are constant reminders to compare and contrast the three languages. By the end of the course students can choose the language they wish to continue based on the introductions in class. They understand the sounds and structure of the three languages well enough to make their decision: French, Latin, or Spanish. A textbook is not required for this class, only a binder or folder is needed for taking notes.
