Working in groups or pairs is a fun and effective way for students to work on classwork or projects. Weaker students can be paired with stronger students for peer help. Students who have the same learning style can work together on projects. Opposite learning styles can be paired together to help students learn the way others think. My favorite way to use pairs is in teaching stations. Students can move around the room in pairs and learn together. Collages are fun to create with a partner. Map activities, skits and games are also a fun way to learn and move around the classroom.
Here is some feedback on group work from my students:
1. It's good to have peers help you.
2. It's easy if you assign different tasks to different people in the group, especially for large projects.
3. It makes it more social in the classroom.
4. Flash cards are fun in pairs and groups.
