I started using enrichment folders this year as a form of remediation for my students who sometimes struggle with French. It is a continual challenge to meet the needs of both students who struggle and those who finish assignments early and are ready to move quickly. My enrichment folders are four colors: regular manila - basic, yellow - novice, orange - intermediate, and red - advanced. The folders are independent learning activities that can be started during class or during after-school tutoring. Everyone has to complete one of each per nine weeks in addition to other required classroom assignments. These grades count as homework grades.
Enrichment folders can also simply be independent learning stations to practice reading comprehension. I have set up a whole folder for French culture texts that all students are required to use. The texts are about French history, etiquette, travel, food and holidays. In the video below I stutter through an explanation of these folders to my students.
Also, in 2014-2015 blue folders for ACT practice will be added.
