Class Descriptions:
In French I students will learn the basic formalities of the French language. By the end of the year students will be able to speak, read, write and comprehend the language at an intermediate level. They will hold conversations, write essays, read and describe basic and intermediate texts, learn hundreds of vocabulary words, and give presentations in French and English. Students follow a syllabus in compliance with the state of Kansas.
In French 2 students continue to study and practice the formalities of the language through textbook activities, conjugations and vocabulary tests. They continue building conversation skills and writing essays. Students begin reading and analyzing poetry in French. Students read excerpts from novels of Zola, Duras and Balzac in French and English. Students give short history presentations in French.
