Bonjour! Welcome to French 1A! Below is a picture of the textbook (the 1985 edition) and the syllabus. You will be able to leave the textbook in our classroom and take it home when you need to. Please purchase a binder or folder for French class.
French 1A Course Description for Parents and Students:
In this class students learn the basics of French grammar, vocabulary, and culture. They practice reading aloud, translating aloud, and write down descriptions of images. There are quizzes on vocabulary and grammar. Students use the textbook Salut, Les Amis! by French for Mastery. In the book they answer exercises and translate dialogues. They memorize the poem/fable Le Corbeau et Le Renard by La Fontaine for a quiz grade. They take the National French Exam for the first time. By the end of the school year they are able to have a basic conversation, express descriptions, and speak about French customs and geography.
